2. Step 5: Income & Expense Statement For this section, you will have to make some choices about how you spend your monthly income. Some of you have already spent most of your income on your housing and transportation. Some of you have been more responsible and been more budget conscious. You all will be able to splurge a little on your monthly expenses. Take a sheet of paper out and number it from 1-10 Write the amounts calculated through this presentation next to each number

5. 3. Electric Bill Square Footage x $0.09 = Monthly Electric Bill Energy companies usually charge by kilowatt usage. Since this project is hypothetical, we can’t say for sure what your electric bill will be. However, we can estimate the monthly amount using your square footage or size of your apartment. Turn to Step 2: Housing Put your finger on the square footage of your home or apartment To calculate your monthly electric bill, multiply the square footage of your home by $0.09

6. 4. Water Bill # of Bathrooms x $11.00 x # of People = Monthly Water Bill Water companies charge by the amount of water used and waste water released. Again, this project is hypothetical, so we can’t say with certainty what your water bill will run each month. We will estimate the monthly amount by the number of people living in the home and the number of bathrooms. Turn to Step 2: Housing and find the number of bathrooms in your home or apartment To calculate your water bill, multiply the number of bathrooms in your home or apartment by $11.00. Then multiply by the number of people living in your home or apartment
