2°Level SECONDARY SCHOOL After taking “Esame di “maturità”, students can choose either to go to work or to go to University.
EVALUATION SYSTEM The school year is generally divided into 2 terms. At the end of each term families receive the student’s report with marks obtained by the student on the various subjects and behaviuor.
INVALSI:National Evaluation Service The Tests «INVALSI»are periodic and systematic checks on the knowledge and skills of students and overall quality of training provided by educational institutions.
UNIVERSITY In 1999, the Italian university system switched from the old system (vecchio ordinamento, which led to the traditional 5-year Laurea degree), to the new system (nuovo ordinamento). The New University system is organised into two different tracks: the Laurea triennale (a three-year degree) followed by the 2-years degree «Specialization» Laurea specialistica. A credit system was established to quantify the amount of work needed by each course and exam.
ORGANI COLLEGIALI”: WHAT ARE THEY The organization of schools and the participation of parents in the management is regulated by a degree which established the “Organi Collegiali”. They are: • Teachers Coucil ( including the headmaster and all the teachers);
Class Council (including the headmaster, all teachers in the class, parents elected as representatives, students- only in 2°Level Secondary School; School Council (constituted by the headmaster, eight teachers, two non-teaching personnel, eight parents or four parents and four students in 2°Level Secondary School.
EDUCATION CO-RESPONSIBILITY AGREEMENT The “Patto educativo di corresponsabilità” (Education Co-responsability Agreement), instituted by Decree n. 235/nov. 2007, has to be written by each school with the involvement of teachers, students, parents, non-teaching school personnel, all co-ordinated by the Headmaster. The aim of this Agreement is to improve the idea of school as community based on educational relationship among all the subjects involved. Each Institute has to define his own regulations which state rights and duties of every subject in schools.
