  4. Definition Foundation skills: • Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) – learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy • Employability Skills • Digital literacy Across a continuum of levels.

  5. Purpose Support foundation skills development: • packaged into vocational qualifications • stand-alone pathways into vocational training • tailored pathways into specific vocational areas. ‘Mixing and matching’ to suit individual needs.

  6. FSTP contents • Bank of units • Skill Set/s • Certificate I in Access to Vocational Pathways • Certificate I in Vocational Preparation and Pathways • Certificate II in Preparation for Work and Vocational Pathways.

  7. Companion Volume/s Contents: • training package scope and purpose • guidance on contextualising for vocational requirements • selection of vocational electives • recommended delivery approaches • using holistic assessment • accessing advice and expertise.

  8. Progress • Development underway • NSW TAFE – endorsed component • TAFE SA – companion volume/s • Input from key stakeholders • Draft material available in April.

  9. Timeline • Endorsed component – end June • Companion volume – July • Case for endorsement – July • Endorsement by NSSC – September

  10. FSTP use FSTP can provide: • electives in vocational qualifications • support for vocational qualifications • individual units or groups of units • pathway into specific industry • general vocational pathway.

  11. Implementation issues • Delivery requirements • Audit requirements • Professional development • Funding availability. • Review.
