  3. Appreciation • Appreciation to show that you are thankful for something The girl showed appreciation for the gift by writing a thank you letter to her grandmother.

  4. Commitment • commitment: to finish what you start without giving up He showed his commitment to his education by finishing all of his assignments and turning them in on time.

  5. Confidence • confidence: the feeling that you can try and do most things The boy was confident that he could solve almost any math problem if he worked hard enough.

  6. Cooperation • cooperation: working well with other people, working together Cooperation is the key to solving most problems.

  7. Creativity • creativity: coming up with your own ideas Authors show their creativity when they write engaging stories.

  8. Curiosity • curiosity: wanting to know more about something, asking a lot of questions and searching for answers Curious people are inquirers who ask a lot of questions and search for answers.

  9. Empathy • empathy: putting yourself in somebody else’s shoes and understanding how they feel A nurse has to have empathy for others because she cares for people who are often very sick.

  10. Enthusiasm • enthusiasm: to enjoy learning, to show interest in something and become excited about it Cheerleaders show their enthusiasm for sports by cheering for a team.

  11. Independence • independence: thinking and doing things for yourself Americans wanted independence from British rule in the 1700’s.

  12. Integrity • integrity: to be honest with yourself and others, to do the right thing Integrity is doing the right thing even though no one is looking.

  13. Respect • respect: being polite and kind to yourself and others Saying please and thank you is one way to show respect for others.

  14. Tolerance • tolerance: accepting others You are tolerant when you listen to other people’s ideas and beliefs without passing judgment.
