BUS 362 Marketing ResearchSPSS Exam Fall 2013 Name: KseniaKapranova Time of the exam start: 12:35 4 digit/letter code: 2106 (give this in case you would like to see your grades posted in advance)
Instructions This exam is designed to test your ability to use SPSS to perform the set of analyses that have been covered in this class during the semester. For the exam you will be using a dataset based on a case study presented in your textbook called “AAA Concepts”. You need to answer 7 questions, which can bring you a total of 20 points equal to 20% of your final grade for the semester. You have 70 minutes to complete the exam. Each question is presented on an individual slide. Use the slide body to provide an answer and/or paste a graphical illustration/ table to support it. If you need additional space, insert an additional slide. Upon completion, you will save the PPT file with your answers on the desktop of your computer and raise your hand to alert the instructor. You will submit your work over outlook in front of the instructor and wait for verification that it has been received. Good luck!
Q1: Describe the demographic profile of the sample including town size and marital status. Provide visualization for both. Insert our answer here… It can be seen from the data that most of the population lives in the big cities(most frequently chosen answer is the size above 1million citizens). There is no significant difference in the marital status, still there are more married people.
Q2: Given a 95% confidence interval what is the best estimate for the likelihood that the true population is “worried about global warming”? The mean=6.10 will fall in the range from 6.01 to 6.19
Q3: Test the hypothesis that on general people tend to agree that: “We need to do something to slow global warming” At first, we do the descriptive statistics, which shows us that that there are 7 answer options, the most frequently chosen is the 7th. The significance is 0 ->Ho (that on general people tend to agree) doesn’t hold, and the t-value is 5.33, indicates that the answers are quite dispersed. The finding from the descriptive statistics diagram proves that and shows that people tend to “strongly agree”.
Q4: Identify whether married and unmarried people differ in the opinion on the “Probability to buy a small (2 seat) hybrid auto within the next three years” The significance =0.022, less than 5%, this means that the H0 doesn’t hold, thus married and unmarried people vary in the answers to the questions.
Q5: Identify whether there are at least two age groups that display similarity in their opinion on the “Probability to buy a small (2 seat) hybrid auto within the next three years” It can be seen that population aged above 35 years (meaning 4 different groups) tend to answer similar on the question. The only group which answers differently is 18-24 years old.
Q6: Identify whether the age category is associated and plays a role in the “Favorite local news paper section” selection. The significance = 0.000, which means that the H0 (varibles not related) doesn’t hold and we can conclude that the choice of favourite newspaper depends on the age.
Q7: Identify whether there is a correlation, what is the strength and the direction between “Classic lifestyle” and “Job category”. Significance = 0.828=almost 83%, meaning that Classical Lifestyle and Job Category are associated, however the Correlation(which is positive) = 0.007, it is less than 20%, which means these 2 answers are not correlated.
