Who we are. • This classroom is a community of learners. We treat each other with respect and we always know that in this classroom it is safe to ask questions and make mistakes.
Take chances, make mistakes, get messy! • This is the motto of Miss Frizzle from the Magic School Bus and I think that it sums up the attitude we should all have in this class!
You MUST be in class! Please treat all members of the class with respect. Follow all directions Take turns Raise your hand to speak (and wait until you are called on.) Always feel free to ask questions! You MUST participate in class. Read outside of class everyday (you can read whatever you want!) Classroom Expectations
Materials • You need a notebook and a pen everyday. • You are expected to bring your textbook with you everyday unless told otherwise. • You must bring a silent reading book for when you finish your work (and sometimes we read them just for fun.)
Announcements: • All announcements will be posted on the door before class. (i.e. if you need your textbook today) • Announcements will also be posted on our classroom blog.
Hall Passes • Restroom breaks are allowed between classes. You have plenty of time. • Restroom passes and hall passes will be given on a emergency basis only…at the teachers digression. • To sign out during class with teacher’s permission put your name, date, time and location in the log then take the pass with you.
Behavior: • All students are expected to come to class on time and prepared, treat others with respect. This is part of being a good classroom citizen. • In this class you will receive a citizenship score along with your regular grades. • Citizenship will be scored using a 4 point scale.
Step 1 • When you first come in you will see an activity on the board. • Work on the activity until everyone is ready to start class. • We will go over the activity as a group.
Step 2 • We will review what we did in our last class together. • This could be a review game, discussion, or activity.
Step 3 • We will learn something new! • Who know what it will be…in this class we are full of surprises!
SURPRISE! You weren’t expecting that were you? See, I told you this class is full of surprises!
Step 4 • Wrap up what we learn! • We will review what we did that day. • Sometimes we will fill out “Exit Tickets” about what we have been learning.
