  1. HOW TO EXPLAIN….

  2. This is a picture of the planet Earth in space. It is the third planet from the Sun.

  3. The Earth is really a sphere. The Earth is spinning around a line called the axis.

  4. The axis of planet Earth is tilted by 23o. This is the axis.

  5. Only half of the planet can be facing the Sun at any point in time. The side facing the Sun is in daytime

  6. Only half of the planet can be facing the Sun at any point in time. The side not facing the Sun is in night.

  7. It takes 24 hours for the Earth to do one turn on it’s own axis.

  8. During this time a place will go through both light and dark. We have both light and dark every 24 hours.
