  1. Setting up a ContentDM account for student use Task: For each student: 1. Add a new 'collection' on the Server; 2. Add a new 'user', give the user the rights to manage that collection Each student should be named as 'FirstnameLastname' (see steps on later slides)

  2. Login to the server: • https://server15855.contentdm.oclc.org/cgi-bin/admin/start.exe • User Name: kentslis • Password: letmein • This account will be used to manage the ContentDM account. • (Note: last two slides are for how to get a WorldCat account and how to change password.)

  3. 1. Add a new collection for each student (FirstnameLastname, e.g., AmberRodriguez)* *If a student has a different name, set the ContentDM collection in the same name student already have.

  4. 2. Viewing all users, Add users one by one (FirstnameLastname, e.g., AmberRodriguez) *If a student has a different name, add that name student already have as a new user.

  5. 2. Add a new user for that student (FirstnameLastname) You will work on this section to give collection rights. (See next slide).

  6. Give student's right – if set correctly, he will only access his collection do not touch the 'Server rights' section. A student can only have the right for a collection, not for a server. Check all those rights' boxes. Very important to only give a specific collection.

  7. After setting the account for each students (a collection first, then a user, with the rights to manage that collection), you are done. • The next slides are for other uses. You can ignore them now.

  8. Alternative way of collection setting • If not adding collection, we can use the Collection 1-21 that already names. • We can change the collection name. • Once user names are added (as user account), we can specify which collection the student will be able to access. But do need to record which links to which. Another issue is that the use may change the schema setting, then the later student will not have a fresh DC schema to work with.

  9. (cont.) A new round – delete the previous user

  10. A new round – delete the previous semester collection

  11. View student's right – if set correctly, he will only access his collection, and will have those rights checked.

  12. Set up a Worldcat account at worldcat.org student: FisrtnameLastname If a student has a different name, set the ContentDM collection in the same name student already have.

  13. Reset the password • If you want to change password, go to worldcat.org, change password. If forgot, request Worldcat to reset.
