  3. FACTS • 3 to 5 seconds is the average time your eyes are off the road while texting. When traveling 55mph, that’s enough time to cover the length of a football field. • A texting driver is 23 times more likely to get into an accident than a non-texting driver. • Of those killed in distracted-driving-related crashes, 99.5 involved reports of a cell phone as a distraction (18% of fatalities in distraction-related crashes).

  4. Facts • Statistics show that talking on the phone or texting while driving is just as dangerous as driving drunk. • Driving while texting on your phone is the equivalent to consuming 4 alcoholic drinks.

  8. State Laws It is against the law in the state of Georgia to text while driving. It is against the law for anyone under the age of 18 to use a cell phone while driving at all also. This means: You can’t even make a phone call if you are driving a vehicle and under the age of 18 years old.
