  2. What is Publisher? Full-feature desktop program that allows you to create professional looking publications and revise them easily.

  3. Types of publications: • Flyers • Letters • Brochures • Catalogs • Reports • Fax cover sheets • Mailing labels • Newsletters • Web pages

  4. Templates • Publisher 2010 provides a variety of templates that you can use to create new publications. • You can change the color scheme of the template from the Schemes gallery • Page Design Ribbon, Schemes Group:

  5. Publisher 411: • PUB is the default Publisher extension • You can also save the publication as a PDF file. • Save a publication as a custom template and use it to create future publications • Customized templates are saved in the My Templates category

  6. Adding Text in Publisher • You can insert a text box by using the Draw Text Box option: • Home Ribbon • Objects Group • Draw Text Box

Text Box • You can copy text from another application and paste it. • Overflow icon will appear on the edge of the text box if there is too much info in the box. • Move the additional text by using the Overflow icon. • Shape of cursor changes to a pitcher when you click Overflow icon • Black arrow appears on edge of text box indicating that there is a link between the two boxes.

Arranging a Text Box • By using the options on the drawing tools format tab, you can resize, rotate or align a text box. • Resizing handles – quick way to change the size of the box • Select the arrange group and click on rotate • Text in the box can be aligned by using the options in the alignment group on the Text box Tools Format Tab

Inserting and Arranging Pictures • You can insert a picture anywhere in Publisher • By default the picture is inserted in the middle • In the Arrange Group you can modify the way the text appears after you insert a picture Squareor tight, etc. • Placeholders = allow you to hold the place for a picture that will be inserted later

  12. Steps to insert a picture / placeholder: 1. Insert Ribbon 3. Once picture has been imported, just drag and click picture to the proper location 2. Select picture or select picture placeholder
