    2. The Delta Project What was the problem? The Data Said Students with disabilities were not moving into Post-Secondary Education. Students with disabilities who were attending Post-Secondary Education were not being successful. Thus the Delta Project was born

    3. The Delta Project A Cooperative Transition Project between: Delta College Saginaw ISD Transition Services

The Delta Project Global Overview of Delta Project- Project Goal: 100% of students enrolled in the project will graduate with an Associate Degree within three years of entering Delta College (or transfer to a state university). The Project had to be replicable The Project had to be data driven and monitored

    5. The Delta Project Timeline- When did Delta Project begin? The Delta Project began in November of 2006. When was the first cohort of students started? The first cohort of students were referred when they were Freshman during their 2006-2007 year. They started the project their Sophomore year in 2007-2008. Currently, Cohort 1 are now Freshmen at Delta College for the 2010-2011 school year.

The Delta Project The Process- Student Selection Process: Referral packets dispersed throughout Saginaw County (Early Spring of Freshman year) (Purple handout) Application Packets sent home to students and parents upon receiving referrals. (Green handout) Mandatory Orientation for parents and students (May of Freshman year). Interview of all applicants. Final Selection process based on Rubric Results. Rubric included in presentation packet. (Orange handout)

The Delta Project Curriculum of Workshops Sophomore- Career Preparation Focus (Pink handout) Field Trips to Delta: Career Center and Mock Admissions/Compass Test Junior- Job Shadow Focus (Teal handout) Field Trips to Delta: Library Tour/Scavenger Hunt Campus Tour/Scavenger Hunt Senior- Dual Enrollment/College Enrollment (Yellow handout) Senior Trips to Delta: Dually Enrollment Registration Financial Aid Registration

    8. The Delta Project The Challenges Parental involvement/Lack of it Responsibility to participate Students change mind and go to other Post Secondary Colleges Students dropping out of school

    9. The Delta Project The Challenges Cont. Not being invited to IEPs Schools not understanding the Delta Project Students will be referred and then not apply Families move out of Michigan or District

    10. The Delta Project Benefits/Positive Outcomes: First Cohort group are now attending, and being successful at Delta College! Panel Discussion with current cohorts Students have developed great friendships Current cohorts will encourage future cohorts to apply to be in the program Students have gained the confidence to advocate for themselves
