  1. The Earth By Scott and Rocky

  2. Mantle Convection Current Convection currents are slow moving currents in the Earth’s mantle that carry the heat from the interior to the surface. This causes the tectonic plates to move.

  3. Earthquakes Earthquakes are caused by a sudden release of pressure or sudden movement within the Earths mantle. The NZ Earthquakes from 22/2/12

  4. Volcanoes, Earthquakes and Faults

  5. Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics As the tectonic plates move the continents move with them. Over millions of years the plates have moved a lot therefore so has the continents.

  6. S and P Waves P Wave: The first kind of wave is the P wave or primary wave. This is the fastest kind of seismic wave (it is the wave that you feel first) The P wave can move through solid rock and fluids, like water or the liquid layers of the earth. It pushes and pulls the rock it moves through just like sound waves push and pull the air. S Wave: The second type of body wave is the S wave or secondary wave, which is the second wave you feel in an earthquake. An S wave is slower than a P wave and can only move through solid rock, not through any liquids.
