  2. What is a goal? An accomplishment you set for yourself in advance. “A dream with a deadline.”

  3. Different people … Have different goals.

  4. Short-Term Goals Goals you can achieve in the near future … in a day, a week, or a few months. Examples: • Getting a good grade on an upcoming test. • Do all my chores at home this week. • Get my homework done tonight.

  5. Long-Term Goals Goals you can achieve over a longer period of time … one semester, one year or even five years from now. These are the goals that are often most meaningful and important. Examples: • Make the basketball team. • Finish my freshman year with 60 credits. • Graduate high school. • Go to college.

  6. GOALS G Give yourself direction. O Organize & prioritize your goals. A Always make realistic & attainable goals. L List obstacles that may get in the way. S Set more goals!

  7. Give yourself direction.You are responsible for your life. Where do YOU want to end up? Goals help you get there!

  8. Organize and prioritize your goals. • Create a plan of what steps you need to take in order to reach your goal(s). Set short-term goals to reach long-term goals. Go to class Complete your HW Pass the class Earn 60 credits • Prioritize your goals Do what’s most important first!

  9. Always make realistic & attainable goals. Set goals that are possible for you. Basketball Star? vs. Make the team?

  10. List obstacles that may get in the way. Obstacles are something that stops you from reaching what you want to achieve … What stops you? Examples: • Drugs/Alcohol • Bad decisions • Laziness • Peer pressure Don’t let yourself get in the way of your goals!

  11. Set more goals once you reach your goal. Goals are chapters in the book of life.

  14. Example Goal #2 Be on time to every single class for two weeks.

  15. Example Goal #3 Pass all my classes this year.

  16. Example Goal #4 Turn in all my homework.
