  4. Planting Better Boy tomatos • Begin planting your tomato’s in early spring, immediately after the last frost of snow of the winter. • Cover the soil with a thin layer of perlite

  5. Germination and Conditions • Average germination will take place between 8-12 days • Cover seeds with a thin layer of pearlite • Light: Full sunlight • Moisture: High moisture (saturated) for first 5 days. Wet until day 8. After day 8, alternate days between wet and medium moisture • Temperature: Average of 65 degrees F

  6. Blooming • To prevent the stalks from kinking or breaking under the weight of their tomatos, tie them up at several heights as the plants grow.Use dowels or tomato cages.

  7. Caring and Harvest • The first of the tomatoes should be ready to harvest about 2 ½ months after planting and should continue to produce into late fall. • Water often • As tomatoes become ripe and attract insects be sure to spray with organic insect repellent to protect them.
