Put their phone number in your phone!!*** • When do we go canning? • How many people are signed up/shift?

  8. Committee Leaders • Where is Brother’s? • 215 North Walnut Street • Bloomington, IN 47404 • (Downtown Bloomington on Walnut Street between 6thand 7th St.)

  9. Committee Leaders • Fundraising • How can I get to and from Brother’s? • If I drive myself to Brother’s, where can I park? • When I get to Brother’s, if a leader is not present, what should I do? • If someone asks you what our organization does, how do I respond?

(only if you stay and help sell the pizza for 1 ½ - 2 hr will you get 1 fundraising event)

  12. Upcoming Events • GB-specific events: • Living on One Film-screening • Postponed until after Winter break ARCHITECTURE.BUSINESS.ENVIRONMENTAL.HUMAN RIGHTS.MEDICAL.MICROFINANCE.PUBLIC HEALTH.WATER WWW.IUGMB.ORG

  13. IUGMB Quarter-Zip • Cost: $26.90 • Need minimum 50 orders • Sign up at the googledoc link that we’ll send out in meeting minutes.

  14. Trip-Specific Updates • Refer to the GMB Information Packet that we gave our on the first trip meeting if you have questions before emailing a leader. • Also look through meeting minutes from past meetings (as well as the powerpoints) – ALL of this is available at our website www.iugmb.org under “Important Documents” • Fundraising Event Requirement • During winter break, I’ll check to see how many events most brigaders have completed, and if very few people completed 4, then the requirement will be lowered to 3 (I’ll let you know over break) • Passport copies • Turn them in to Becki before you leave OR • Give her your status update about the passport

  15. Personal Fundraising • Personal Letter Template • Available on our website under “Important Documents” – modify the highlighted yellow parts to fit your specific needs. Send these letters to all friends and family • Ask parents to forward emails to their friends and colleagues. • You would be surprised by the random donations you may get. • Donations to Empowered are tax deductible (donors will be emailed a tax receipt after they donate) • Severe Facebook posting • If you are solely responsible for paying for your trip, you need to take advantage of every resource available • Include the link to the “Donate” page on Empowered and tell them to “Make a donation on behalf of a volunteer” • Panama: https://www.empowered.org/Indiana-Medical-Dental-Brigade-March-2014-Panama/donate • Ghana: https://www.empowered.org/Indiana-Med-Dent-and-Public-Health-May-2014-Ghana/donate

  16. Personal Fundraising • Hutton International Experiences Program (HIEP) grant • A few brigaders applied earlier for the Panama trip and received enough money to pay for the GB Program fee! We HIGHLY encourage brigaders to apply for the Ghana trip (but if you plan to study abroad later, keep in mind you can only get this grant once while at IU) • Personal Canning • It wouldn’t hurt to discreetly carry around a “can” with you everywhere you go. Decorate it so it’s eye-catching; that way people ask you “what’s that”, and you can tell them about going on a brigade and ask them for spare change/donations. • If you have a professor who isn’t a super stickler for rules, talk to them about being a brigader and ask if they wouldn’t mind you making an announcement at the beginning of the class about donations. You could pass the can around (or keep it near the door where people can donate as they leave).

Committees Fundraising: Claire, Sheena, Namratha (fundraising@iugmb.org) Community Outreach & Advocacy: Kristin & Audrey (outreach@iugmb.org) Medications: Mike & Alice (medications@iugmb.org) Health Promotion Disease Prevention: Taylor (hpdp@iugmb.org) GB Delegate: Asna (aasrar@indiana.edu) Public Relations & Advertising: Zack (publicrelations@iugmb.org)
