Supply List • One 3 ring binder-2inches or more • Dividers • # 2 pencils • Erasers • Pencil pouch/box • Lined paper-wide rule • Four Spiral notebooks (wide rule) • Highlighters • Colored pencils • Small thesaurus • Home use • Small dictionary • Crayons • Glue stick • Scissors • One ruler (inches & centimeters) • One protractor • Classroom donations • One bottle of hand sanitizer • Cleaning wipes (Clorox wipes) • Kleenex

Classroom Rules • Listen and follow directions • Come to class prepared • Raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking • Respect others • Keep hands and feet to yourself • Keep your area clean • Take care of classroom equipment and materials • Always try to perform better than you did the day before

Daily Schedule • 8:10-8:15 Flag Salute, Recite the Preamble, National Anthem, Attendance, Lunch Count, Sharpen Pencils • 8:15-8:45 English Language Development • 8:45-10:00 Reading • 10:00-10:20 Word Work • 10:20-10:35 Recess • 10:35-11:05 Grammar/Writing • 11:05- 11:35 English Language Arts Strategic Support • 11:35-12:00 Mathematics • 12:00- 12:45 Lunch • 12:45-1:00 Mathematics • 1:00-1:35 Mathematics/Strategic Support • 1:35-2:05 Science/Social Studies • 2:05-2:30 Physical Education

Homework Policy • Homework will be given daily (Monday-Thursday) and due on a daily basis. • Homework will be given on Friday only to those students who do not complete homework or class work during the week. • Students who do not complete homework will lose recess or receive an afternoon detention

Homework Policy • Students who do not come to school prepared with books, homework, and student planner will lose recess or receive an afternoon detention. • Homework is given as a review of California State Standards previously taught. • Daily reading at home is essential for your child’s success in fifth grade.

  7. Reward Plan • Verbal and Written Praise • Classroom Privileges • Computer time • Free time • Movie time during lunch • Good Behavior Tickets • Trade tickets for school supplies, books,etc.

  9. Grading Scale • Advanced 90%-100% A • Proficient 80%-89% B • Basic 70%-79% C • Below Basic 59%-69% D • Far Below Basic 0%-58% F

  14. English Language Development • If you are an English Language Learner, you will be provided with Reading Intervention Strategies to make you a successful reader. Each lesson will: Reinforce Vocabulary Build Text Comprehension Build Fluency

Math The following topics will be taught: • Addition, Subtraction with Decimals • Multiplication, Division with Decimals • Algebra • Geometry • Addition, Subtraction with Fractions • Multiplication, Division with Fractions • Ratio, Proportions, • Percents, Probability • Integers and Coordinate Graphing

  16. Science • You will learn about the following topics based on the California State Standards: • Physical Science- Elements and Compounds • Life Science- Structures of Living Things • Earth Science- The Water Cycle • Earth Science- Weather • Earth Science- The Solar System

  17. Social Studies You will learn about United States history and how our country was founded. The following topics will be taught: The Thirteen Colonies The American Revolution States and Capitals The United States Constitution
