  1. CF Coordination with Technical Divisions Ove Dyling Conventional Facilities Advisory Committee Review October 5-6, 2010

  2. Outline • Interface Management Overview • Implemented Changes • Coordination with Technical Divisions • Changes under Consideration • Conclusion

  3. Interface Management Overview • Accelerator Group – Erik Johnson (Interface Manager) • Experimental Group – Andy Broadbent (Interface Manager) • Interface Mgr activities: • Formal Weekly meetings • Additional meetings as required to resolve issues including Beneficial Occupancy planning • Coordination meetings with Ring Building General Contractor • Use of Navisworks to coordinate in real time • Navisworks purchased by the Accelerator Group • Interface Mtg Minutes Documented on Share Point

  4. Implemented Changes • Changes Implemented for Accelerator Group • Beneficial Occupancy Coordination • Revised how magnets will be entering the Ring Tunnel • RF Area Design Maturity • Revised roll-up door due to cryogenic equipment sizes • Revised RF Test Room Radiation Shielding Door • Ring Tunnel Design Maturity • Revised Gaseous Nitrogen to Compressed Air • Increased size of Cooling Tower Building • Injection Building Design Maturity – will discuss later • Changes Implemented for Experimental Group • 100 Meter Long Beam Line (Hard X-ray Nanoprobe Satellite Building) • Vibration Analysis • Integrated into both the Ring Building and LOB 3

  5. Beneficial Occupancy Coordination Enlarged Opening Common Access Corridor Temporary Entry Door Forklift area

  6. RF Area Design Maturity Revised Radiation Shielding Door design in RF Test Area Revised door height from 10’-0” to 14’-0”

  7. Implemented Changes - MEP • Labyrinth Coordination • Ductwork, Sprinkler Piping, and Electrical conduits coordinated with Secondary DI water supply and return • Revised concrete penetration in Labyrinth wall • Injection Building Coordination • Design Maturity of the Booster, Transport Line and Linac • Revised sizing and location of the power supply. • Revised layout of the Electrical Systems • Coordination of ductwork layout • Located Secondary DI water locations • Revised concrete penetrations

  8. Injection Building Plan

  9. Injection Building Section

  10. Coordination with Technical Divisions • Coordination Processes • Shop Drawing Review • Radiation Shielding Doors • RF Test Area Shielding Blocks • Location of Liquid and Gaseous Nitrogen drops • Integrated Power Cabinet (PAC) design and locations • Regular Field Tours/Inspection of On-going Construction • Unistrut locations in Booster Tunnel • Design documents indicated smooth arc • Construction methods resulting in 4’-6” segments • Penetration omission in Booster Tunnel • Discovered mid August • Issued ECN 126 August 30, 2010

  11. Changes under Consideration • Beneficial Occupancy Planning: • Timing of Epoxy costing of experimental floor • Meetings conducted presently to identify optimal timing • Accelerator System Scope: • Considering scope transfer for CF oversight of: • Experimental Electrical Cable Tray • Lead Shielding in Ratchet Wall opening • Secondary DI water system inside Service Buildings & SR Tunnel • Experimental Systems : • Additional Beam Lines during construction • Utility hook up to Hutches

  12. Conclusions • Technical Divisions and Conventional Facilities are confident that most changes have been discovered and incorporated into the design • Planning for smooth integration of installation of Scientific equipment while construction is ongoing • Technical Divisions and Conventional Facilities are well coordinated and are fully engaged in Conventional Facility Construction Progress
