  2. What is TACS A statewide service funded by the Australian Department of Health and Ageing under the Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) Program

  3. THE ROLE OF TACS • Develop & improve partnerships between • Aged care service providers • Ethnic community organisations – Community Partnership Program (CPP) • DoHA • Ensure that the specific needs of older people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds are identified and addressed

  4. THE ROLE OF TACScontinued • TACS helps service providers and CALD communities work together to ensure that cultural diversity care needs are addressed at all levels of service planning and implementation

  5. TACS provides information, education and training sessions to aged care service providers to enhance culturally appropriate care provision • Consultations with CALD communities are conducted to ensure that cultural care needs are addressed in the most appropriate way

  6. The combination of CALD community consultation and service provider liaison results in TACS’s unique ability to effectively facilitate lasting partnerships • Such partnerships are highly valued by community groups wishing to contribute to the care of their elders; and are greatly beneficial for service providers now able to tap into a wealth of cultural information

TACS in a nutshell • Identification of specific needs of CALD clients • Improved choice and participation for CALD older people in the local area • Information, training and resources to meet the cultural care needs of clients • Rewarding partnerships between your service and the local community
