  2. Autocracy • Kim Jong un – leader of North Korea. • Has unlimited power.

  3. Rule of law. • There is no rule of law. • Within a dictatorship they don’t limit the government. • Ex. Article 42

  4. Fairness of the law and execution • State protects private property and guarantees by law the right to inherit it. • Freedom of speech. • Freedom of religion.

  5. Due process of law • Ensure that all institutions, enterprises, organizations and citizens abide strictly by State laws and staunchly combat class enemies and all law-breakers. • Give judgments and findings with regard to property and conduct notarial work. • Ex. Article 162

  6. Respect for Economic rights. • The State pursues a tariff policy to protect the independent national economy.

  7. Structure of Gov • Supreme Peoples Assembly has the authority to do anything. • Need two thirds of vote to change constitution. • Ex. Article 91

  8. Court system • The Supreme court is the highest judicial organization of DPRK. • The presidents and judges of the special court are appointed or removed by the supreme court. • The accused are guaranteed the right of defense.

  9. Issues facing the country • Refugees tried to flee country and were held and tortured for just over two weeks. • Any contact to south Koreans results in forced labor combined with horrible working conditions and torture from guards.
