  1. God’s Unfailing Love Loving-kindness – Mercy – Kindness Goodness – Favor – Steadfast Love – Loyalty

  2. Unfailing Love Lovingkindness The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: ‘Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.’ (Jeremiah 31:3)

  3. God’s unfailing love binds us to Him in a covenant relationship • Unfailing love is covenant love (Deuteronomy 7:9; 1 Kings 8:23; Hosea 2:19-20) • God’s unfailing love would not let go of Israel (Nehemiah 9:16-17; Daniel 9:4,9)

  4. God’s unfailing love still demands justice and righteousness • To truly know God we must know both of these aspects of His character (Jeremiah 9:23-24; Psalms 89:14; 36:5-7; 57:10) • God owns mercy BECAUSE He owns justice! (Psalms 62:12; 85:10) • Both aspects of God’s character must be proclaimed &desired (Psalms 40:8-10; 119:24) • We cannot understand God’s love if we do not understand His justice. (Romans 5:20; Ephesians 3:19; Isaiah 63:7)

  5. God’s unfailing love provides forgiveness • Confession and repentance are necessary (Isaiah 55:7; Psalm 51:1-3) • In the power of God’s unfailing love we experience COMPLETE forgiveness (Psalms 25:6-7; 130:7)

  6. Psalm 103:8-17 • God has not given us the punishment we deserve (vs. 8-11) • He has completely removed our transgressions (v. 12) • He knows our weakness and frailty, and He pities us (vs. 13-14) • His mercy is not a passing thing – it is everlasting! (vs. 15-18)
