  9. Research Design • Correlation in design. • Cross sectional study whereby we analyzes data of a group of subjects at the present state of study. • First Variable: the background of the students • Second Variable: is the academic performancewhich will be determined by their cumulative grade point average (CGPA) from their first until fifth semester and then we will look whether their CGPA will be affected by their background or not.

  10. Target population • All third year students of UniversitiKebangsaan Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur Campus. Sample Study • All third year students in the Faculty of Health Sciences in UniversitiKebangsaan Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur Campus.

  11. Sampling Method • Stratified random sampling – Population study that consist of all third year 2011/2012 undergraduates of Faculty of Health Sciences (FSK), UniversitiKebangsaan Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur Campus which will divided into strata according to respective courses in FSK

  12. Sample Size Chi-square test, df=1, with significant level of 5%, and degree of accuracy, Δ  is 5%. • wherec² = 3.84, Δ= 0.05, p = 0.5, N= population size = =161.50 ≈162

  13. -In case of occurrence of missing data, outliers and attrition, estimate 10% of the proportion would drop out in ordered to achieve the final desired sample size. The formula to make up for the losses of samples: -Final sample size=180 subjects.
