  1. Bobbins are one of the most important parts you need to consider and think about while sewing. Although tiny, but these small metal and plastic bobbins are the main element that make it possible to create a locking stitch. A variety of bobbin types are available, but you can’t use all of them with your machine. Whether a personal sewing machine, commercial sewing machine, embroidery machine, or any other, every different machine type requires a different type of bobbin to be used. Thus, it is important to know the bobbin that your machine requires so that you can install the right one. If not, you will have to face the hassles of uneven stitching, improper stitching, thread breaking, needle breaking, or at the worst, even damage to themachine! Yes, this tiny element, if not installed correctly, can damage the working of the entire machine. This is why you must be very careful while buying your bobbin. You can either go through your machine’s manual, consult the manufacturer, or a bobbin manufacturing professional to know the right type of bobbin for your machine. Trim Engineering Services is one of the most reliable metal bobbin manufacturers in India who you can get in touch with to know the kind of bobbin you require, while also purchasing the same from them. You can not only get the best quality metal bobbins here, but any kinds of bobbins like plastic, nylon flange, phenolic flange, wooden, aluminum, and many others. Let us now take a look at the various common bobbin types that are available for different types of machines. Style L bobbins These are the most common bobbins used in personal sewing machines. With an 8 inch diameter and 0.35 inch width, these bobbins can wind just enough amount of thread for a project. Although designed for home sewing machines, they may also be used in long-arm and commercial embroidery machines. But, this is very rarely the case because it winds lesser thread than what a commercial project woulduse.

  2. Style Mbobbins These bobbin types are large ones made for long-arm and industrial sewing machines. And, because they are used for larger applications, they are designed to hold nearly twice as much thread as L-stylebobbins. Style A (Class 15)bobbins Known as Style A or Class 15 bobbins, they are available in both metal and plastic materials; however, without holes on the sides like the regular L-style bobbins. Also, they are same in diameter as L-style bobbins, but are wider, thus permitting to hold more thread. The regular dimensions of a Style A bobbin are generally 3/4 inch in diameter and 3/8 inch in height, with a flat profile. If you have a machine with an oscillating shuttle where the bobbin case is needed to be removed to install the bobbin, you can use both metal and plastic Style A bobbins. But, if you have a drop in the bobbin system, you must use only the plasticversion. Class 66bobbins These bobbins are also available in both metal and plastic materials, with dimensions approximately 3/4 inch in diameter and 5/16 inch in height, with a rounded profile. They are exclusively designed for half-moon shaped bobbin cases; and must not be used in front or end load machines with a removable bobbin case, as the needle will contact the edge of the bobbin and chip it.
