  4. Katakana • Four katakana are given. Listen to the pronunciation. Then think a moment (3 min) what katakana may be. • アメリカ • ザーザー • ハンバーガー

  5. Katakana • Another symbol of phonetic sounds in JPN • Stemmed from complex kanji • Currently used to write loan words (foreign words), onomatopoeia, and more • Angular look e.g. めありー(hiragana) → メアリー(katakana)

  11. Grammar: suffix ~ne, ~yo, ~wa… • All suffix can be found at the end of a sentence. • ne: confirmation • yo: I’ve got to tell • wa: I’ve got to tell e.g. shinaidesu ne. (this is shinai, right?) shinaidesuyo. (I’ve got to tell that this is shinai.)
