The SSC invites applications from all eligible candidates for the posts of Postal Assistants/Sorting Assistants, Data Operators and Lower Divisional Clerks. Though the Staff Selection Commission, the Government of India aims to create a workforce which reflects gender balance, encouraging women candidates to apply for the vacancies. The exam is of 10 2 level which will be conducted all over India.

Syllabus • General Intelligence • The exam will include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. • Other sub-topics, if any Numerical operations. • English Language • Spot the Error • Fil in the Blanks • Synonyms/Homonyms etc.
Quantitative Aptitude • Number Systems • Fundamental arithmetical operations • Algebra • Geometry • Mensuration • Trigonometry • Statistical Charts • General Awareness
Skill Test for Data Entry Operator • Data Entry Speed of 8,000 Key Depressions per hour on Computer. • Visually handicapped candidates would be given a total of 35 minutes for the skill test. • ‘Data Entry Speed’ Skill Test would be qualifying in nature. • The Skill Test will be held at the Commission’s Regional Offices.
Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant and LDCs – Typing Test • The Typing Test would be of qualifying nature • Candidates who have taken English as a medium must have typing speed of 35 words/minute and for Hindi medium at least 30 words/minute. • If an applicant fails to choose any medium, by default English would be his Typing Test medium.
Preferred Position must be mentioned by candidates All candidates need to indicate in the application form for the exam, the order of preference for the posts of Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, Data Entry Operator and LDCs as under
How to apply? Applications must be submitted only in the prescribed format (Annexure – I) online or by post.
