Scheduling Meeting • Select your classes at home and circle them on the course selection sheet. • During the 15 minute meeting, recommendations will be discussed and MRHS Counselor will confirm course request after answering any questions. • (Selections are based upon teacher recommendations) • Please be on time.
Freshman Seminar(Full Year – 5.0 Credits) • Required for all 9th Graders • Replaces Issues of Conscience (Tolerance) and Personal Finance/Tech and Career • Cohort Structure – Held in Regular Classrooms and Computer Labs The purpose of this course is to give incoming ninth graders a structured program to facilitate the transition from middle school to high school, build life-long learning skills, develop 21stcentury skills and raise awareness of the challenges and complexities of living in a multicultural society.

History • 3 Options in US History I • Pre-AP Honors A Cohort • Honors • College Prep • Summer Reading Assignments – Pre-AP Honors A and Honors • Honors US History (Pre-AP) – Prepares students for AP U.S. History (10th Grade) – Taught as a Cohort with Honors A English (Students must register for both Honors A History and English) • Honors U.S. History I – Reading and Writing Intensive compared to College Prep
English • 3 Options • Pre-AP Honors A Cohort • Honors • College Prep • Summer Reading Assignments – All levels will have an assignment. • English I Honors (Pre-AP)– Prepares students for AP English Language (11th Grade) – Taught as a Cohort with Honors A History (must register for both) • English I Honors – Reading and Writing Intensive compared to College Prep • English I College Prep – Focused on the development of basic skills necessary for success in high school English, as well as other disciplines.
Science 3 Options • Honors Chemistry (with Honors Algebra 2) • Advanced Physical Science ( with Algebra 1 or higher) • Applied Physical/Earth Science – (with Pre-Algebra/Algebra)
