  1. Session 1: Progress and Status of Implementation and StandardisationCASCADE & RFG ASAS-TN2 5th Workshop Toulouse 17 September 2007 Jörg Steinleitner CASCADE Infrastructure WP Leader, EUROCONTROL European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation

  2. Overview CASCADE Programme: • Scope, Implementation Policy, Worldwide Co-ordination CASCADE Validation: • Status: ADS-B out & ADS-B in, Pioneer Airlines, Monitoring Requirements Focus Group: • Within CASCADE, Status, Planning Timeline: Standardisation, Certification, Rulemaking

  3. CASCADE Programme

  4. CASCADE Scope • Ground Surveillance Applications (ADS-B-out) • In a non-radar environment • In a radar environment • On the airport surface • Airborne Derived Data 2008 ADS-B Receiver • Airborne Surveillance Applications (ADS-B-in & TIS-B) • Situational awareness on the surface • Airborne situational awareness • Visual separation on approach • In Trail Procedure 2011

  5. The Bigger Picture voluntary implementation in pocket areas certified existing equipage IR based implementation in wider areas upgraded equipage 2015

  6. The ADS-B Implementation Policy

  7. ADS-B in other ContinentsWorldwide Co-ordination

  8. CASCADE Validation

  9. First “ADS-B out” Implementation Sites • LVNL (Netherlands) implements ADS-B NRA with WAM (2009 in N. Sea) • LFV Sweden implements • ADS-B NRA (2008, Kiruna) • ADS-B RAD (2009, Ostgota) • 7 ANSPs (CRISTAL MED:Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Turkey) validate ADS-B NRA & RAD towards implementation decision by 2008 • DFS has included ADS-B (and WAM) in its SUR Strategy • Target date is 2015

  10. ADS-B-in: Emerging implementation CRISTAL Sweden (ATSAW trials for GA) completed: Implementation by 2009 (Ostgota) CRISTAL ATSAW (simulations of ATSA VSA, SURF, AIRB) to be completed in Oct 2007 CRISTAL ITP (simulations and trial in N. Atlantic) ongoing CRISTAL Germany (TIS-B feasibility for ATSAW) ongoing Certification target date: 2009

  11. ADS-B Implementation Roadmap NRA: In Non-Radar Airspace RAD: In Radar Airspace VSA: Visual Separation on Approach ITP: In Trail Procedure APT or SURF: On the Airport Surface ADD: Aircraft Derived Data for ground tools AIRB: During flight operations

  12. ADS-B Pioneer Airline ProjectTarget: “ADS-B out” Certification 17 Airlines - 400 Aircraft – 500.000+ flights/year

  13. Pioneer Airline ProjectMonitoring & Certification Statistical Evidence Possibly supporting means of compliance demonstration (in-flight statistics) Primary means of compliance demonstration (design assurance, tests) Airworthiness Approval Avionics Design
