CASCADE Scope • Ground Surveillance Applications (ADS-B Out) • In a non-radar environment • In a radar environment • On the airport surface • Airborne Derived Data 2008 ADS-B Receiver • Airborne Surveillance Applications (ADS-B In) • Situational awareness on the surface • Airborne situational awareness • Visual separation on approach • In Trail Procedure 2011 Situational Awareness “only”

Beyond CASCADE – “Package 1.5” • To fill the gap between CASCADE & Package 2 (AP23) • Enhanced ATSAW & Spacing Applications • “IOC” of 2013+ (part of SESAR IP2) • Implies changes to ATCO procedures & “ADS-B In” avionics • Same “ADS-B out” avionics baseline as for CASCADE • Eurocontrol: new activity proposed to Directors • “RFG 1.5” to start in 2010 • Application set to be defined in the meantime
First “RFG 1.0” and then “RFG 1.5” “Let’s stick to our plan to put a man into orbit first … ” “… before we put one on the moon !”
Conclusion ADS-B Implementation Is now ! Implementing Rules US and Europe: 2009 Significant role for RFG “Package 1.5” www.eurocontrol.int/cascade
