  4. OCCUPATIONS AND PROCESSES • CADMIUM MAY BE FOUND: ABRASIVE BLASTING PNEUMATIC SANDING GRINDING VARIOUS SURFACES CLEANING ABRASIVE GLOVE BOX SPRAY PAINTING WELDING AND SOLDERING

  5. PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE LIMIT PEL= 5 mg3

  6. ACTION LEVEL • ACTION LEVEL = 2.5 mg3 AS AN 8 HOURTIME WEIGHTED AVERAGE (TWA)

  7. HEALTH HAZARDS • EYE AND SKIN IRRITANT • LUNG AND PROSTATE CANCER AND KIDNEY DYSFUNCTION

  8. WARNING SIGNS • WARNING SIGNS SHALL BE PROVIDED AND POSTED IN REGULATED AREAS

  9. WARNING SIGNS • WARNING SIGNS SHALL BEAR THE FOLLOWING: DANGER CADMIUM CANCER HAZARD CAN CAUSE LUNG AND KIDNEY DISEASE AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY RESPIRATORS REQUIRED IN THIS AREA

  12. REMOVAL AND STORAGE OF PPE • CONTAMINATED CLOTHING CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE WORKSITE EXCEPT FOR AUTHORIZED LAUNDERING • PPE SHALL BE KEPT CLEAN AND SANITIZED • ALL DISPOSABLE PPE SHALL BE DISPOSED OF AS HAZARDOUS WASTE

  13. WARNING LABELS • SHIPPING AND STORAGE CONTAINERS SHALL BEAR THE APPROPRIATE LABELS AND CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING: DANGER CONTAINS CADMIUM CANCER HAZARD AVOID CREATING DUST CAN CAUSE LUNG AND KIDNEY DISEASE

  14. HOUSEKEEPING • ALL SURFACES SHALL REMAIN FREE FROM ACCUMULATIONS • SPILLS AND SUDDEN RELEASES SHALL BE CLEANED UP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE • SURFACES SHALL BE VACUUMED TO MINIMIZE CADMIUM BECOMING AIRBORNE

  15. PERSONAL HYGIENE • SHOWERS SHALL BE TAKEN AT THE END OF EACH WORK SHIFT WHEN THE EXPOSURE LEVEL IS ABOVE THE PEL • ENSURE FACE AND HANDS ARE WASHED PRIOR TO EATING, DRINKING, SMOKING, CHEWING TOBACCO, GUM OR APPLYING COSMETICS

  16. EMERGENCYPROCEDURES • IF PERSONNEL BECOME SICK OR INJURED: - REMOVE FROM WORKSITE - REMOVE PPE AND ADMINISTER FIRST AID - CALL FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

  17. TRAINING • PERSONNEL SHALL RECEIVE TRAINING PRIOR TO OR AT THE TIME OF INITIAL ASSIGNMENT OF DUTIES WITH CADMIUM AND ANNUALLY THERE- AFTER
