Argentina Dove Hunting: It’s World Class Rancho Salvaje is a private hunting lodge with a full staff near a private dove roost. A short 20 minute drive to the field will put you under a sky filled with birds. The amount of doves you shoot will be determined by the number of times you want to pull the trigger. Argentina is famous for its dove hunting. It is not uncommon to see clouds of doves swarming over water, or flowing through the air like“a river” when the birds start moving between the field and the roost, undulating through the air like flowing water. Come and experience what hunting the American frontier once was, and still is, in Argentina. Enjoy this beautiful land teaming with wildlife, the incredible hospitality of your host Daniel Zanuso and his attentive staff, and the most amazing dove hunting on earth. We have clients who regularly shoot a thousand doves in a day, but an average shot can bag 500-800 doves in a day. Each hunter has a bird boy to keep your shell bag full, load your guns (if you are using two) so you can try for the “1000 Bird Club,” take pictures, count birds, and (most importantly) to pick up all those shells and dead doves for you. One reason for the world-class dove hunting in Argentina is the incredibly high number of cattle and other livestock, all of which are fed from seed crops such as corn, soy, sorghum, wheat, milo and sunflower. This creates a perfect environment: grain fields dotted with pothole lakes and no other hunters, for the abundance of doves.
Your day of dove hunting begins after enjoying a hearty breakfast and then approximately a 20 minute drive to our private roost. Shooting lasts until 11 or 12 o’clock when you will return to the lodge for a large lunch followed by a short siesta. After your evening hunt, it’s time to return to the lodge to relax and unwind. Enjoy your choice of beer, wine or other beverages with hors d’oeuvres followed by a full dinner.
