Tell us More about the Festival…. • The Festival goal is to attract tourists to Mackinac Island, boosting the local economy and assisting the fundraising efforts for the Mackinac Community Stable project • MHA has several fundraising events throughout the summer - combining them helps make the Festival a ‘Destination Event’ much like the Lilac Festival • What better venue then Mackinac Island where “Horse is King”!
2009 Mackinac Festival of the HorsePlanned Events • Thursday, July 23rd: • The 11th Annual Horses, Hoofbeats and Hor d’Oeurves Party and Live Auction • Friday, July 24th: • Antique Carriage Rally and Driving Exhibition by local Coachmen • Parade through town featuring teams and single horses pulling a variety of classic carriages • Saturday, July 25th: • Afternoon Breeds Show of Mackinac and Guest Equine Entertainment and, that evening, an Old Fashioned Barn Raising Party • Other Events: Barn tours, lectures, movies, hay rides, Ferrier demonstrations and more
More about Mackinac Horsemen’s Association • MHA is an established 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its mission of the promotion and preservation of the horse culture on Mackinac Island is well known throughout the community and is associated with the Mackinac 4-H Horse Club and their families. MHA presently provides education and training in the handling, riding and husbandry of horses. It is actively involved with promotions and fundraising efforts. The association sponsors and participates in multiple Mackinac Island equestrian events throughout the year. • The Mackinac Horsemen's Association (MHA) and Mackinac Community Stable Committee (MCSC) are committed to the establishment of a community stable with the intent to promote and preserve the unique and historic equine culture of Mackinac Island.
