Remember that a great fit for someone else does not necessarily mean a great fit for you.

  4. 2-year Open-door admission policy H.S. diploma & ACT/SAT scores are used for placement Accept H.S. grads, G.E.D. recipients, or individuals at least 16 years of age that have withdrawn from high school 4-year ACT or SAT scores are required G.P.A & class rank on transcript, volunteer work, personal statement, extra curricular activities, recommendations Admission Requirements

The Student’s Responsibility • Decide where to apply (talk w/College Counselor) • Obtain the applications • Complete the actual applications • Develop a RESUME • Early admission applications due as early as November 1st • Gather other important information • Request transcripts to be sent out-see College Counselor

  7. How Many Apps? Applications may cost between $20-$80+ each • 2 “reach” schools • Academic & Financial • 2 or 3 “appropriate” schools • You will probably get in • You can probably afford • 1 to 2 safety schools • Definitely get accepted and affordable

  8. How to get applications • Phone or visit the Office of Admissions • Colleges Prefer On-Line Applications • The Internet: • Complete and send electronically… Check to see if there is a section to print out and give to your College Counselor/Teacher • Download the application

  10. To Obtain Letters of Recommendation • Provide A Resume • Allow Minimum 2 weeks in advance • Provide Deadline--when/date? • Prefer ALL recommendations come back to College Counselor

  13. COLLEGE ENTRANCE RECOMMENDATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS(Depends on what tier the school is in) • ENGLISH: 4 years • MATH: 3-4 years • SCIENCE w/2 LAB: 3-4 years • SOCIAL STUDIES: 3 years • FOREIGN LANGUAGE: 2-3 years • VISUAL OR PERFORMING ARTS • ELECTIVES

NCAA Clearinghouse • Do you hope to play Division I or Division II college athletics? • Your eligibility MUST be cleared by the NCAA. • Core GPA & Test Scores • Core Courses - ONLY english, math, science, social science, foreign language • Test Code 9999 • Eligibility applications are available online at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net

The FAFSA Form • Provides a means for the government to use a standardized formula for applicants • Need PIN (both parent and student) www.pin.ed.gov • FAFSA www.fafsa.ed.gov • Filed soon after January 1st of student’s senior year • Requires prior year tax information • Sends results to schools on student’s behalf
