  1. HOW DIVORCE AFFECTS CHILDREN? There may be a time when a couple decides to step out from their marriage and live individually. This decision may be beneficial for the parents, but it may leave a negative impact on their children. Since the child only gets to live with one of the parent at a time, he/she may not be able to adapt the upcoming changes and experience the following problems. Stress Short Term Effects A study conducted in 1980 - 1981 revealed that the children who witness separation of their parents get low grades in school.(Andrew J. Cherlin, - Marriage, Divorce, Remarriage– Harvard University Press 1981) Anger & Resentment Academic Issues Behavioral Problems Feeling Hopeless Children that face the divorce have more psychological issues.(Robert E.
