  1. COPE Product Family Overview

  2. About Standardware Established in 1984 IMS Virtualization Specialize in IMS and CICS application development and testing technologies. Have a long standing relationship with IBM at IMS Development in Silicon Valley Lab and CICS Development in Hursley to enable our product to work with all new releases and features of IMS and CICS. Business Partner Customers Work with many large corporations which have complex IMS DB/DC and CICS DBCTL environment.

  3. Who uses COPE ?

  4. Customer Feedback What are customers Saying about COPE : • Amex is a complex environment and it works there (160 logical systems) • Amex likes COPE and keeps expanding it’s use, they use it to test on-line applications, middle tier systems that need IMS access, and for batch testing . • Amex thought it would be of value to companies that had as little as 10 logical systems, the time it would take to set up maintain 10 full IMS test systems, versus 10 logical test systems in COPE, mad purchasing COPE and easy decision. • BCBSSC selected COPE for DBCTL as a virtualization technology that could create software-based representations of physical IMS resources. • Because COPE could virtualize IMS resources, staff • no longer had to generate and reserve actual physical IMS resources for purposes of developing, testing, training and staging applications. From a cost standpoint, adopting COPE provided immediate relief from the need to invest in expensive hardware and software upgrades. “The move to COPE immediately saved us additional system software and storage costs on System z,” said Stugart, “When we evaluated the hard dollar savings against the costs of revamping our operations and application development and test environments, the tradeoffs were insignificant.” “We have been a COPE user for nearly ten years in Connecticut, fifteen years in New York and over twenty years in Virginia” said John Deluca, configuration engineering advisor for Anthem Connecticut. “In the Connecticut, Virginia and New York data centers, we use COPE for IMS for our end to end application development testing on System z. COPE supports the entire development process—from early application development, through application unit testing, integration testing, training and final user acceptance testing, which occurs right before we place an application into production.”

  5. Customer Feedback What are customers Saying about COPE : Customer Comments

  6. What is COPE IMS Development Environment • COPE has Actual IMS full functional Capabilities. IMS Virtualization • Provides a virtual IMS development environment that enables many applications to be developed and tested at the same time while maintaining complete independence between each environment. • Not a simulator, emulator or system replicator and has all the functional capabilities of IMS. • COPE is an Application Virtualization development and testing environment for IMS.

  7. What is COPE • Enables IMS application developers and testers to work independently in their own sandbox. Optimizes Systems Execution Cost COPE Enables many Development Environments. • Maximizes the cost effectiveness of development and test activities by enabling many development environments to be created on request with an existing preconfigured IMS. • COPE enables application developers and testing personnel to work independently to access an accurate representation of production IMS resources which frees up the IMS administrator from repetitive development support tasks. • Reduces the cost of development by enabling a project team to share a single IMS and by freeing up system programmers from continual development project support tasks.

  8. Why use COPE? ACCELERATES OPTIMIZES SATISFIES EXECUTES • the demand for immediate access to IMS resources throughout the development life cycle by immediately creating sandboxes which developers and testers can use to progress toward the next project check point. • efficiently within an existing IMS by managing developer and tester access to accurate, production representative IMS resources pre-configured by the IMS administrator. • the cost of IMS development by enabling many developers and testers to work at the same time within a single IMS while maintaining isolation between each work load. • development projects, reduces project and resource costs and free up IMS systems administrator‘s to focus on priority production issues.

  9. Problems IMS development faces today

  10. COPE value proposition COPE enables…. COPE Users are IMS application developers, quality assurance testers and IMS systems administrators who need to develop and test IMS applications in IMS environment that accurately represents the target production deployment system. IMS developers can set up and run their own test cases without needing to go back to the systems administrator. COPE administrator create and IMS Developers can use test environments as needed. IMS systems administrators can create a test system for a development project in a single effort.

  11. Application modernization value using COPE COPE reduces development and testing costs COPE reduces test process time COPE reduces test system skill requirement Customer surveyed report minimal problem and quick turnaround.

  12. Business value of COPE to our customers Rapid deploy isolated IMS environments. Rebalancing of Resources. Usage Based Product Licensing. Minimal Impact on current Development & Testing Life Cycle. Enhanced Utilities to accelerate Development and Testing.
