  2. Introduction www.entranzz.com A bartender is someone who serves drinks behind a bar in a bar, pub, tavern or similar establishment. This usually includes alcoholic beverages of some kind, such as beer (both draught and bottled), wine and/or cocktails, as well as soft drinks or other non-alcoholic beverages. In establishments where cocktails are served, bartenders are expected to be able to mix hundreds to thousands of different drinks. Bartenders also usually serve as the public image of the bar they tend, contributing to as well as reflecting the atmosphere of the bar. In establishments focused more on food, this can mean the bartender is all but invisible.

  3. Eligibility www.entranzz.com There is no specific formal degree or qualification required for this career. However, some of them enter this career after completing a course in Hotel management or a certification course in Bartending. Now due to demand in this field those students in hotel management and hospitality field are taking short term courses in bartending as an add on to their skill. Many bartenders are promoted from other jobs at the food service establishments in which they work and receive on-the-job training. Those who wish to work in reputed establishments need vocational training in bartending. There are many institutes in India as well as abroad offering training in bartending. Earlier bartending was taught as a subsidiary subject along with Hotel management course. Now there are certificate courses available in bartending.

  4. Job Prospects www.entranzz.com Forecast: 9 percent employment growth for bartenders from 2010 to 2020, slower than the average for all occupations. This job outlook is due to several factors including the growing bar and restaurant openings around the country and the need to staff them, as well as the continued trend of many people dining out at these establishments. A steady amount of turnover in this field also accounts for continued employment. However, the increasing trend of restaurant take-out or carryout services, may limit the employment growth of bartenders.

  5. Remuneration www.entranzz.com The average salary for a Bartender is Rs 190,000 per year.
