“Searching for Chametz involves more than removing every particle of physical leaven from our domain; it also means eradicating every last vestige of spiritual leaven—self-inflating pride—from every ‘recess and crevice’ of one’s … self.’
“May all manner of leaven in my possession, whether I have seen it or not, or whether I have removed it or not, be hereby annulled and considereddust of the earth.”

Old Leaven Unleavened “Cleanout the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed. “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience…Hebrews 10:22
Nearer, still nearer nothing I bring, Naught as an offering to Jesus my King; Only my sinful, now contrite heart, Grant me the cleansing, Thy blood doth impart, Grant me the cleansing, Thy blood doth impart.
Nearer, still near, Lord to be Thine, Sin, with its follies I gladly resign; All of its pleasures, pomp and its pride, Give me but Jesus, my Lord crucified, Give me but Jesus, my Lord crucified.
Jesus, I my cross have taken,All to leave and follow thee;Weak and poor, despised, forsaken,Thou from hence my all shalt be.Perish ev'ry fond ambition,All I've sought, or hoped, or known,Yet, how rich is my condition!God and Christ are still my own.
Let the world despise and leave me,They have left my Saviour too;Former friends are wont to leave me,Thou art faithful, thou art true. And while thou shalt smile upon me,God of wisdom, love and might,Foes may hate, and friends may scorn me,Show thy face and all is bright.
Go, then, earthly name and treasure;Come, reproach, and scorn and pain;In thy service pain is pleasure,With thy favor loss is gain.I have called thee, Abba, Father;I have set my heart on thee;Storms may howl and clouds may gather; All must work for good to me.
