Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) • Complete every year • ISU priority date is March 1 every year • (Priority aid includes: ISU Grant, SEOG Grant, & Work Study) • Estimate your financial information to meet the priority deadline • Apply even if you miss the priority date • www.fafsa.gov

Financial Aid Checklist • Report outside scholarships you have been awarded on AccessPlus • Outside scholarships may impact your current financial aid award. • Adjust or decline unneeded financial aid on AccessPlus • To avoid delay in receiving financial aid, contact the Office of Student Financial Aid by phone or email if you need to make any adjustments to your award. • Complete entrance counseling for the loans you intend to borrow • http://www.financialaid.iastate.edu/loans/entexit.php • Sign Master Promissory Notes (MPN) for the loans you intend to borrow • If awarded a Health Professions Student Loan (HPSL), sign the MPN on AccessPlus. • Sign Direct Stafford Loan MPN online at http://www.financialaid.iastate.edu/loans/stafford.php

Financial Aid Checklist • Apply for a Direct Graduate and Veterinary Medicine PLUS loan if needed • Submit the Direct Graduate and Veterinary Medicine PLUS Loan Application and complete the required MPN as soon as possible so funds may be available by the August 20th U-Bill due date. • Find more information online at http://www.financialaid.iastate.edu/loans/plus_grad.php • Authorize the release of aid on AccessPlus • The Accounts Receivable Office sent an e-mail to your Iowa State University e-mail account at the end of July instructing you to authorize the release of your financial aid to pay your U-bill in August. • Designate a direct deposit account on AccessPlus • Financial aid you have authorized on AccessPlus is applied directly to your U-Bill. If your aid is greater than your bill, the excess funds will be deposited directly into the bank account you designate.

Financial Aid Checklist • Review your financial aid status on AccessPlus before classes begin to ensure your aid can be applied to your first U-Bill. • Grant others access to your university account, if desired • Complete the Information Release form and return it to the Office of Student Financial Aid http://www.financialaid.iastate.edu/forms/forms.php?p=all • Complete the Account Information Release for Accounts Receivable on AccessPlus for university billing information. • Grant Third Party Access on AccessPlus.

How Do I Get My U-Bill? • Your U-Bill is located in AccessPlus • When there is account activity you are notified via ISU e-mail on the first working day of each month • Account activity may include: Tuition, Mandatory Fees, Room & Board (in Residence Halls & University Student Apartments), Phone Services, Printing, Student Health Insurance, Student Health Center Service Charges, Parking Permits and Tickets, Library Fines, CyCash, Vet Clinic, and other department charges.

What Forms Of Payments Are Accepted? • Electronic payment through “Pay Bill Online” in AccessPlus • Check Accompanied by Payment Slip: • Make check payable to Iowa State University • Write student ID number on check • Take check to payment drop box located behind Student Answer Center on the ground floor of Beardshear Hall OR • Mail check to: Treasurer’s Office 1220 Beardshear Hall Ames, IA 50011-2044 We do not accept CREDIT CARDS for U-Bill payments

Option #1 Account Info Release Information release only E-mail notification and information release Mail a copy of the bill - $5.00 per semester Allows authorized individuals to call and speak to Accounts Receivable about billing concerns. Option #2 Third Party Access + Account Info Release Allows third parties to view the Account/U-Bill and have an online payment option. Who Else Has Access To My U-Bill?
