Changing Competitive Landscape • Legislation and public sentiment are changing the competitive landscape of the automotive industry: • Global warming • Public concern about rising fuel costs • Going green in the automotive industry began several years ago with the introduction of lower emission standards • Environmental focus has expanded to encompass greater fuel economy and alternate fuel sources • Providing environmentally friendly products is becoming the norm across industries

Improving Fuel Economy and Range • Chrysler LLC, Mercedes-Benz, General Motors and BMW have joined forces to develop an advanced two-mode hybrid system • Represents a major automotive industry milestone • First Chrysler products to feature technology will be the 2009 Dodge Durango Hybrid and 2009 Chrysler Aspen Hybrid • Global Electric Motorcars (GEM), a Chrysler LLC Company, has been in operation for almost 10 years • Battery-electric vehicles represent a relatively new vehicle in an emerging market segment • ENVI organization responsible for bringing electric-drive vehicles and related advanced-propulsion technologies to market
Developing Products that Minimize Impact on the Environment • Chrysler LLC has been an automotive industry environmental pioneer for the past 15 years • In 1993, the former Chrysler Corporation was the first manufacturer to produce vehicles meeting California’s Low Emission Vehicle, Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle and partial Zero Emission Vehicle standards • Today, Chrysler LLC has promised that 50% of its vehicles will be capable of running on alternative fuels such as ethanol and biodiesel by 2012 • Currently have 11 models available as an E85-capable Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV) • Chrysler has sold more than 1.5 million FFVs in the past decade • Dodge Ram with 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel – already meets the EPA’s stringent 2010 emission standards

Reinvesting in and Preserving the Environment • In recent years, Chrysler LLC has invested more than $10 billion in communities where we have our roots • Billions of dollars have been spent to construct or refurbish production facilities, or in some cases, support local developers to ensure industrious use of the sites, including more than $165 million to recondition Brownfield sites • Over the past 15 years, nearly 40 sites have undergone environmental and economic transformation
Greening our Manufacturing Operations • Two of Chrysler’s facilities, the Newark, Delaware Assembly Plant and the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA) in Dundee, Michigan have achieved zero-waste-to-landfill status • All Chrysler facilities in Mexico are zero wastewater discharge facilities In recent years • Chrysler is the world leader in applying powder primer technology to our products – resulting in no emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) • Since 1991, the company has researched recycling technologies aimed at reducing the amount of a vehicle that goes to landfill
