  11. APPLICATIONS OR USES Molybdenum is an essential trace element and is used as micronutrient for animals in the form of Ammonium or Sodium Molybdate. Ammonium Molybdate is used in veterinary medicine to treat copper poisoning in sheep.

Applications or Uses • Copper is an essential trace element and is used as a performance enhancer. • Severe copper deficiency is associated with anemia, neutropenic and bone demineralisation. • Nutritional factor, used in copper deficiency of ruminants. Has also been used as anthalmentic, emetic and as a fungicide.

Applications or Uses • Dicalcium phosphate and other calcium salts are used for calcium deficiency states and in the management of hypocalcaemia resulting from dietary deficiency or aging, also as an antacid. • Calcium is an essential element for the development and maintenance of normal bones and calcium salts may be indicated in the treatment of some bone disorders associated with calcium deficiency.

  26. Applications or Uses • Magnesium salts have variety of actions and uses. Many are given as a source of magnesium ions in the treatment of magnesium deficiency. • In acute or sever hypomagnesaemia, magnesium may be given most usually as chloride or sulphate. • Several magnesium salts such as the carbonate, hydroxide, oxide are widely used for their antacid properties. Applications or Uses • Zinc is an essential element of nutrition and are present in a wide range of feeds. • Features of zinc deficiency include growth retardation and defects of rapidly dividing tissues such as the skin, the immune system and the intestinal mucous. • In deficiency states zinc is usually given by mouth as the sulphate, the sulphate monohydrate or the gluconate. • Zinc oxide or sulphate is mildly astringent and is used topically as a soothing and protective.
