The Larry Cherubino Wines owned by Houghton and his wife Edwina saw its humble beginnings in one of their spare rooms and since then it has now become a milestone in the wine making industry. Houghton believes that more than the wine making process, the taste of the wine depends on how the grape is been grown. In 2017, the Larry Cherubino Wines received the highest honour, Halliday’s Best Value Winery Award for its outstanding and value for money range of wines.

  3. HISTORY Houghton,beingafirstgenerationAustraliandevelopedhisinterestsin winemakingatayoungeragewhileseeinghisfamilymakingwinein thebackyard. Hestudiedhorticultureandlaterworkedasawinemaker andtravelconsultant. HemetEdwinaduringthisphase. Asapartofhis job, heworkeduponthevineyardsandwineries, andalsogot opportunitiestotravelaroundtheworld. HewenttoNewZealand, U.S.A., France, ItalyandSouthAfricawherehisknowledgeofwinesgot enhanced. In2004, heandhiswifeEdwinapurchasedtheirfirstlandparcelin FranklandRiverwheretheywantedtoplanttheirownvineyard. Afew yearslater, theydecidedtobuyaneighbouringvineyard, andacresof vineyardcountryandprimeriver. Theyknewthatthelandhashigh potentialandwillbeverybeneficialforgrowinggrapes. Itwasin2005, thatthelabelsawitshumblebeginningsinaspare room. Theyhavetravelledalongwaysincethenwithagreatrangeof finewinesbeingproducedundertheirlabel.

  4. AT PRESENT Atpresent, theLarryCherubinoEstatecoversacresoflandhaving differentgeographicalandclimaticconditions. Thevineyardscover someofthefamouswinegrowingregionsnamelyFranklandRiver, Pemberton, MargaretRiverandPorongurup. Heretheygrowawide varietyofgrapesincludingbothwhiteandredvarietals. Hebelievesthatgreatwinesrequiregreatgrapes. Thus, forhimgrowing grapesrequirealotofhardworkwhichalsoreflectsinhisrangeof wines. Hiswinesreflectthecharactersofthefruit, theterroirandhis hardwork.
