Lake Texoma, OK and TX Reallocation Study 5 Nov 09: ASA(CW), Ms. Darcy briefed Secretary of the Army, Mr. John McHugh. Secretary McHugh concurred with USACE position on hydropower being consistent with Secretary Geren’s prior direction. Next Steps: HQ USACE arrange meeting with Congressman Hall. ASA (CW) issue letter to SWPA on hydropower compensation. ASA(CW) approve reallocation report and water supply agreements. Goal: Complete by end of November 2009.

Red River Chloride Control, TX & OK Project: Reduce naturally occurring chloride and total dissolved solid concentrates in the Upper Red River Basin to allow economical use of water for municipal, industrial, and agricultural purposes. This project is a select major water strategy of the 2007 Texas Water Plan. Status: Resume construction and continue real estate acquisition efforts at Area X, initiate real estate acquisition activities at Area VII and continue reevaluation efforts for Area VI. Sponsors: Wichita Basin - Red River Authority of Texas, TX Area VI - Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) and the Lugert-Altus Irrigation District, OK FY 2010 Conference: $ 1,332,000 Initiatives: August 2009 legislative tour with Congressman Thornberry/ Senator Cornyn staff December 2009 tour with TWDB representatives.
