Sears Tower In August of 1970 the construction of the Sears tower began. This photo is of the beams at the very beginning. Who would have ever thought that these just plain beams would have ended up in the 1730 foot tall Sears Tower, in May of 1973.
This, the photo to the left, is a view looking down from the sky deck at the Sears Tower. The photo to the right is of the new addition known as the ledge. You are standing in a glass enclosure that is 1353 feet up from the ground and extends approximately 4 feet out the side of the tower, giving a phenomenal view of the city.
