But how do you know if you're on the right track? Here Dr. Jeffrey Harrell has suggested some questions you should ask yourself to determine if a medical career is right for you.

  3. Are you passionate about helping others? Medicine is a highly rewarding field, but it's also incredibly demanding. To be successful and make a mark in the field of medicine, you must have a genuine interest in helping others and a passion for medicine.

  4. How do you handle stress? Medical professionals must be capable of handling the stress that comes with the job. Do you think you're up to the task? This includes dealing with patients who may come in scared, angry, or upset. You must be able to remain calm and composed while offering help, assistance, and empathy.

  5. Are you a team player? As a medical professional, you must also be an effective team player. This means collaborating with and mentoring your colleagues, building partnerships with other medical professionals and working together to support each other's success.

  6. Are you detail-oriented? Medical professionals must be able to pay attention to detail and make sure that everything is up to par.
