Facts about Box Hill Institute • 40,363 student enrolments • More than 2,200 international inbound student enrolments (50 countries) • 2,900 student enrolments on international campuses in China, Vietnam, Fiji, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, PNG • 47.6% Government funded • 1,367 Staff • Over 500 Courses • 300 Short Courses

Issues relating to credit transfer: • Training Packages, competency based approach does not easily match higher education curricula. • Graded assessment vs. competency based. • Excessive time and resources in achieving formal credit transfer/articulation arrangements. • Maintaining current credit transfer/articulation arrangements.

  4. Box Hill Institute Strategic Plan • Leaders in Relationships: • Additional pathway options for our students and staff as a result of alliances with other providers. • Strengthen our relationship with selected universities.

  5. QUESTIONS: • Is the potential for credit transfer one of the outcomes of a TAFE Diploma or Advanced Diploma? • Who should be responsible for pathways? • What are the opportunities for pathways for our students?

Box Hill/Deakin University • Deakin University Relationship: • 2004 Memorandum of Understanding • Development of pathways and advanced standing • Joint delivery of courses • Shared research • Joint marketing • Joint professional development • Collaboration on enterprise and international projects • Joint subcommittee approach

  8. Achievements • Articulation database designed and implemented on BHI and Deakin websites. • Joint delivery of programs eg. Bachelor Management/Advanced Diploma of Tourism (Management). • Collaboration for effective credit transfer arrangements between BHI TAFE qualifications and Higher Education qualifications.
