History of Cosmo Group History of Cosmo Group starts from small Chinese restaurant in suburb of Nagoya, central Japan in early 1970s. Those days, authentic Chinese foods were available only in five-star hotels or china town in major cities such as Yokohama , Kobe and Nagasaki. Naturally, its business involve introduction of Chinese culture. In late 70s, opened 2nd outlet and started “Norenwake”traditional style of Japanese franchising or rather called blooming system which is to help chefs who work for certain years to open their own restaurants by guiding, consulting and often with financial support (No franchising fee or royalty is involved) Eventually sourcing, supplying, menu development, management support and consultancy become major part of Business. In 1980s, our business expanded to Singapore. Started sourcing and trading business until middle of 90s.We often involved technically in order to develop genuine Japanese taste or quality. Through the experience, we developed alternative source of decent Japanese food products including China, Korea, Vietnam, France, Australia and other SEA countries. Until late 90s, major business of our Singapore operation were importing Japanese foodstuffs, Japanese Tableware and other Japanese items of which introducing Japanese culture and supporting local Japanese’ daily life. Cultural exchanges through inviting artists, craftsman and promoters in cooperation with major department stores become part of our business. Our first F&B outlet in Singapore was Conveyer Sushi Restaurant opened in 1998 and it expanded to three (3) outlets and a central kitchens. On the other hand, Housing developing business kept very good track including ‘90s which Japanese property market was dull, by supplying higher quality housing with very reasonable price tag which was made possible by efficient procurement and process management system developed by the group. Year 2001 was the turning point of our diversification strategy. The strategy was changed to concentrate our resources to R&D, management, consulting and franchising. Especially F&B, it was realized with database build and analyzed in 20 over years in variety of foods, location, culture, customer class, marketing method, different location, different cultures, different human resources. Under new strategy, Direct operation of Restaurants and some other minor business such as a internet café, Beauty & Hair Salon, both in Japan and Singapore, were sold in 2001-2002 and made consultancy, management, franchise or technical cooperation agreements with some of them. In 2003, We developed in cooperation with a baby food manufacturer and started marketing Balance Nutrition Food, Zen-diet. Started marketing in Singapore in 2004 In 2004, Gelateria was developed in cooperation with a refrigeration company and started marketing with consultancy in Japan and started franchise with SnowStorm Band in S.E.Asia in 2006.
