Molluscum appears as a small, pink bumps with the dimple in centre can appear anywhere in the body but mostly involves abdomen, axillae, limbs, face and genital area. As the name suggests it is easily spreadable, so common in children. These bumps appear slowly as a single lesion or in groups and disappear without treatment but the time taken to disappear may vary from weeks to even 2-3 yrs. And when these lesions are scratched or rubbed they spread to different areas on the body. Typically old lesions heals after few weeks and new lesions appears. This whole cycle becomes really frustrating for those having this infection as there is no definitive treatment. Also appearance of these lesions at exposed areas and face make it unsightly and embarrassing. The typical allopathic treatment involves either freezing the bumps (cryotherapy), or curettage or burning with chemicals. None of them are definitive and are associated with high chances of recurrence and pain. A few natural remedies can help us in curing this infection.
