Joshua M Shields: Education in Forestry Joshua M Shields was born and raised in the Saginaw area of Michigan where his interests in natural resources, music, and martial arts are founded. He achieved his B.S. in applied ecology and M.S. in forest ecology and management from Michigan Technological University. He wouldn’t stop there, also obtaining his Ph. D. in forest biology from Purdue University. He believes that the only way to gain true knowledge about natural resources is through experience outdoors.
