KDK Forging Co. Product Description Upset Forging is a process where a portion of a billet is forged at one end. This describes a typical scenario. In some applications, the much of the steel bar may be left unheated and unforged. There are a some ratios that govern the extent to which the steel can be upset. The goal of upset forging is to bring more material to one end of the steel bar. KDK has been producing upset forgings for over 70 years. Military torsion bars were first produced for tanks after World War II. There are a number of applications that upset forging can be used that most people do not consider. Upset forging can be more economical than the welding process and can also create near net shapes that do not require machining. This save the time and expense of machining and add strength to the component from the forging process. Our upset forgings are up to 4 1/2" in diameter. (some exceptions apply). https://www.kdkforging.com
