Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award 2008-09 • Launch since 2005 • Develop students’ high-order thinking skills and creativity • Enhance students’ awareness and appreciation of poetry • Give students an opportunity to strive for excellence in the use of language and literature
Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award 2008-09 • Eligibility • Primary Section (All primary schools except International and ESF schools) • Secondary Section (All secondary schools except International and ESF schools) • Open Section • Each school can nominate at most 20 entries from all 3 sections

Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award 2008-09 • Poems must not have been previously published, self-published or published on a website or broadcast before 1 June 2009. • Poems must be the original work of the author. Any infringement of competition rules and regulations will disqualify the student from taking part in the competition or winning an award.
Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award 2008-09 • Student Entry Form • Each poem must be given a title • Neither School name nor student’s name should be included • Poems typed and printed in 14-pt Times New Roman • School assign a number to each entry form, from 1, 2, 3… • Save all softcopy on to a disc
Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award 2008-09 • Adjudication • Phase 1 screening • Judging panel of representatives from the Gifted Education Section, frontline teachers from English Teachers Network
Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award 2008-09 • Adjudication • Phase 2 • Final Adjudicators • Maximum of 20 entries from each section will be selected
Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award 2008-09 • Interview • 10-min interview • Students will be interviewed by final adjudicators • Students will share their view and demonstrate originality on their poems • Interview will be video taped
Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award 2008-09 • Prize • Certificate of The Poets of the School Award • Authors of the best entries selected from schools nominating not less than 10 students. • Entries of the winners have to demonstrate a high standard overall.
