What is Framing? • The act of determining the boundaries of the image Two Types • Camera-to-Subject Distance • Camera-to-Angle Distance
Extreme Long Shot • Frame in which the scale of the object is very small • A building, landscape or crowd of people will fill the screen
Long Shot The scale of the object shown is small Standing human would appear less than half the height of the screen
Medium Long Shot Framing at a distance that makes an object about four or five feet high appear to fill most of the screen vertically A human figure seen from the knees up would fill most of the screen
Medium Shot • Scale of the object shown is moderate size • A human figure from the waist up would fill most of the screen
Medium Close-Up Scale of the object shown is fairly large A human figure seen from the chest up would fill most of the screen
Close - Up The scale of the of the object shown is relatively large A person’s head seen from the neck up or an object of comparable size that fills most of the screen
Extreme Close-Up The scale of the object shown is very large A small object or a part of the body will fill the screen
Bird’s Eye View Shot taken from directly above the object Most extreme high-angle shot
Low-Angle Shot A shot in which the camera looks upward toward the subject
High-Angle Shot Camera looks downward toward the subject
