  6. Smear Validation • Laboratory personnel were showed how to calculate, store and choose smears for smear validation using the guide from WHO, 2002 • All laboratories were urged to actively participate in this program

  7. Video presentation • A video on acid fast – direct smear microscopy for low resource laboratories was shown • A discussion followed as to the feasibility of the methods shown for use in the Caribbean
